Seasonal Events

In 2018, White Rose Farm Circle, Inc. is sponsoring five events to honor the seasons at White Rose Farm. Our next event is:

  Celebrate the Fall Equinox

Saturday, September 22, 5:00 p.m.

Ole and Ingrid Hass of Beech Tree Puppets present "The Giant Turnip".  A whimsical and humorous telling of this Ukrainian folk tale celebrates community and caring for the earth. An old man and his wife who, after lovingly preparing and tending their garden, grow a vegetable so large they can’t pull it up by themselves. The story is told with hand-crafted rod-puppets, and much singing.  Shadow puppets reveal what happens under the ground, including a helpful and jolly root gnome.

Then we will enjoy the magic of this evening--the weaving of a performance in the barn, the gardens in fall, a fire circle and a pot-luck meal for farm circle members. The evening ends with people gathering around the fire singing and telling stories.

Cost: $10/adult, $7/child, $30/family. Register here.

A Barn Dance

(in the barn at the farm)

Saturday, October 13, 2018, 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Kim Forry will call simple line and circle dances to the live music of Back Step Cindy--that's Howard Zane on Banjo, Sandy Hofferth on Fiddle, and Joe Langley on Guitar. No dance experience required--this is an old-time barn dance in the barn at the farm.

The event is sponsored by White Rose Farm Circle, Inc. a non-profit organization focused on creating beauty, bounty and balance in ourselves and in our world.

A potluck meal will be held for farm members starting at 5:00 p.m., including food fresh from the farm. (Trial membership is available and reasonable.) 20% discount for members who register in advance. Register here.

$15/18 adult; $7/10 child; $30/35 family.

(Online/at the door.)

Saturday, November 3, 2018, 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

From 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., we invite you to join Farm Circle members in decorating the temporary community altar in the barn. Please feel free to bring items (i.e. photos, flowers, or food) to honor a loved one. We will host a pot-luck meal for farm circle members (it is easy to join!).

At 7:30 pm, Jaqui MacMillan, of Drum for Joy,  will again lead a drum circle to honor the ancestors. Jaqui discovered her passion for drumming in the early 1980's and have been teaching private lessons, leading workshops and drum circles throughout the U.S. for over 20 years. Bring a drum if you have one. We will have extra instruments.

Please note: Children 12 and over are welcome.

Quiet time is starting....

Hazel is back! She is pregnant and due midwinter. Our thanks to Leah Mack, at whose farm Hazel and Daisy spent the summer with a virile bull.  Now we want to find Daisy, a pure-bred Jersey, a new home. She is pregnant and due mid-spring. Interested? Please contact me. Thanks. Sally
