Sunlight, snow, silence & story--the gifts of the farm midwinter

Posted 1/15/2019 9:02pm by Sally Voris .

On a recent morning, I woke to sunlight, snow and silence. Then I began sharing stories with a close friend.  This is the gift of the midwinter season on a farm, and I invite you to treat yourself to an overnight retreat. This space offers shelter, clarity and grounding from the chaos that swirls around us now. We have a mid-week special--three consecutive night for a reduced rate or single nights and most weekends through airbnb.

Our next Women's Circle will be on Saturday, February 2 from 10:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Retreat House, 4234 Ruggles Road.  We meet eight times a year to honor the seasons of the year and the seasons of our lives. The events include a seasonal ritual, a time of sharing, an art activity and a shared meal. (Bring food to share.)  Cost for participant: $25; first-timer, $15.00. Register here.

We are also making the Retreat House available for overnight stays for up to four women on Friday night, February 1 and Saturday night, February 2, so those coming from a distance can spend a night away and really relax in the quiet of the country. Please call 410-756-9303 or e-mail sally@whiterosefarm.com for more information or to reserve your space on these nights.

GLOBAL SISTERHOOD GATHERING: Our next gathering will be on Monday, February 4 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Retreat House, 4234 Ruggles Road, Taneytown.  We will lead a program based on materials from the Global Sisterhood. The event is free and we collect donations to support women refugees.  RSVP.

May we center ourselves in the silence and prepare for spring and new growth.

Quiet time is starting....

Hazel is back! She is pregnant and due midwinter. Our thanks to Leah Mack, at whose farm Hazel and Daisy spent the summer with a virile bull.  Now we want to find Daisy, a pure-bred Jersey, a new home. She is pregnant and due mid-spring. Interested? Please contact me. Thanks. Sally
